There is a growing trend of digital devices becoming more and more popular due to dropping cost. This brings more tools into the hands of artists.
One item I began using in the beginning of 2007 was a digital picture frame. It was big, bulky, and didn’t work well. Today’s frames are much better, higher resolution, cheaper and do more things like play movies.
The one I found was the ViewSonic 8-Inch Touch Digital Photo Frame. It runs just over a hundred dollars, takes memory cards from pretty much any digital camera, and is very small, sleek, and cool.

When Angie does her Live Digital Caricatures, she has this running beside her with samples from other events, plus other little fun things to help keep people entertained.
When I’m out at tradeshows or conventions, I load it up with videos and other related slideshows of sample work. It is something that sits there, out of the way, selling while I either work, or talk to clients or potential clients.
This is identical to how I use my iPhone, except I can have this on the table running non-stop. I’ve placed a link to Amazon to the exact model that we use. The link uses my affiliate link through Amazon, so if you buy it, you’ll be helping support the articles and tutorials on this site. Thanks in advance!
Also, the interface has gotten much better over the years. The menu lights up on the front when you press the right location (and only then do you see the View Sonic text appear). These menus in the front are easy navigation. In the past, we’ve had frames with the buttons in the back and it was very hard to keep navigating between pictures.
I wrote another article over at the Reels in Motion blog about using a digital picture frame as a form of advertising.
You can purchase the ViewSonic 8-Inch Touch Digital Photo Frame at Amazon.
Appreciate the info guys, thanks
